Brummie Dave reports from Mars!

As mentioned in the last post Dave & Julie kindly took Clares 2.5 up to Stockport yesterday for further filming on the Life on Mars set. The following pictures are his (thanks Dave!). Apparently the GT6 was hammered up and down the road and handbraked turned by a stunt driver until it threw its teddy out of the pram and boiled over in spectacular fashion! Bloody lightweight (as in feable, not pared of excess weight!) GT6's, I told them they could thrash the 2.5 to their hearts content if they wished, there's no way they would cane it any harder than Clare does!

As owners of GT6's, TR5's (4 including my first ever car!), I have to say that I love all Triumph's in nearly equal measure. You may be aware however that I hold one particular model in a differant compartment in my heart, a little clue being that we own 10 of them!

  3. Well done for flying the Triumph flag Dave(s) Have you suggested that maybe a 2.5PI would be a better copper's car than that Granny or a brace of AllAggros in the background?

After Monday we thought that would be it, but Clare got another call last night from the guy that sorts the cars for the show. Seems they want the 2.5 back up on the LOM set next week, not sure what for though this time? Like you say it would be fantastic to have a Triumph 'in your face' every week in front of 6 million viewers! Only problem is the production people have now asked a couple of times if we would sell them the car. We of course have said no, but have offered them a better deal, we supply it, fix it, whatever, at short notice, to suit them. Clare however is angling for her own Winybago on set, and one of those fancy fold up chairs with her name on the back next to the director!

  5. Postscript to Mondays filming. Apparently (or so the guy from LOM says) the chap that owns the GT6 used in Mondays filming is thinking of withdrawing his car from sale (its currently on the cars for sale bit of the TSSC website). He is now going to hang on to it until the new series comes back on the telly early next year because he has noticed the sharp increase in values of Cortina MK111's since series one! So come February/March 2007 do we think that all green MK111 GT6's will be worth a couple of grand more?

  6. I still can't see Allegro's being worth anymore though however many times they get on the box?

  7. Do they want a blue mk2 GT6 for some filming?
When do we see you lot in some trashy 'Celebrity' magazine? I can just see you and Clare doing a 4 page spread at chez Pearson. i hope that you have told the LOM people that you can supply loads of Triumph's if they want them. Reckon you should think about selling steel wheels and rostyles.

  8. Yes Tim, I have now entered you on our 'database' (scrap of paper in my skyrocket) of cars/owners prepared to drop everything with 24 hours notice (or less)to be 'on set' at any location within the UK with minimum fuss/moaning! Is that OK?
